bioSYNergy
This cross-faculty research initiative sets a new path for societal involvement in producing relevant, responsible and ethically sound science.
The aim is to use synthetic biology principles to enable controlled construction of a “plug-and-play” platform for solar energy driven biosynthesis of a multitude high-value compounds, with a market potential for the future globalised bio-based society.
Ultimately, the research will provide a sustainable alternative to the fossil fuel-based and highly polluting production systems used currently in the chemical industry.

The bioSYNergy project is managed by the following groups, committees and boards, whose members are listed below.
- The bioSYNergy Steering Group - makes all decisions regarding research and funding.
- The bioSYNergy Research Committee - consists of the Steering Group members as well as the principal investigators of the project who collaborate across disciplines.
The daily project management is done by the Center for Synthetic Biology's administrative group.
The Steering Group
Head of Dpt. Maja Horst, Associate Professor Timo Minssen make up the steering group together with Professors Birger Lindberg Møller, Ulrik Gether and Kell Mortensen. Birger Lindberg Møller is the Chair of the bioSYNergy Steering Group.
