Synthetic Biology Meets the MEPs

On the 6th of June a panel of international experts went to Brussels to speak at an EU-workshop on Synthetic Biology organised by the EU's Science and Technology Options Assesment (STOA) and co-organised by Centre for Synthetic Biology at University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark. It was an enlightening event that comprised praise for the societal, scientific and technological opportunities inherent to synthetic biology and concerns expressed in a well-balanced debate over which paths must be avoided due to ethical considerations.
