iGEM is the international student competition in Synthetic Biology. Teams from universitis all over the world compete in making the best innovation projects. The teams compete on the hardcore science, the business potential, outreach and communication of the project, ethical aspects, funding etc

For that is needed students from all disciplines - e.g. biotech, physics, law, design, medicine, entrepreneurship, philosophers, chemists, programmers, antropologist and everybody else who can see themselves as part as a very diverse and dynamic team solving great challenges in collaboration. There is a team of experienced supervisors ready to guide the team.

This year will be a continuation of the 2015 team. The team applied synthetic biology to the challenges to space exploration and colonization of Mars. Specifically they engineered high-value compound producing moss to tolerate the conditions on Mars.
