Title of seminar: Novel production routes to food ingredients

Harald Heider is principal investigator at Evolva - link

Abstract: Baker’s yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is well known to mankind since it has been used for thousands of years for the production of beer, wine and bakery products. Less known is the fact that it is also well suited for the production of diverse food ingredients usually known from plants. Evolva is exploiting this feature for production of either known natural products or even as yet unknown molecules. With our technology we are able to develop new production routes for existing compounds or even create novel functional compounds by genetic means.
