The bioSYNergy project is funded by the University of Copenhagen's Excellence Programme, which is promoting crossdisciplinary research initiatives. The total grant consists of 27 million DKK split between 14 research groups at the 4 participating faculties, Law, Humanities, Health and Science.
The programme is a part of the University of Copenhagen’s 2016 strategy, which notes that the recent internal faculty mergers emphasize the importance of strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the University. To further this purpose, DKK 480 million was granted for cross-disciplinary research/education (400 million) and for a pure educational part (80 million). 18 research/education projects received a grant, including bioSYNergy.
