Søren R. Midtgaard studies the properties of lipoprotein particles. Both how the traditional discoidal ApoA1 based discs are assembled and also how to make new novel discs. Furthermore, since these discs are potentially good tools for stabilizing membrane proteins, a substantial part of his research is also focused on how to optimally stabilize membrane proteins in lipoprotein particles.

It is a very interdisciplinary center and spans a broad range of classic research areas. This gives me the possibility to interact with people with many different backgrounds. It also gives me a large network of people to collaborate with when a new idea has to be tested that requires skills found in other labs.
