Synbio PIs at Nano-Science Center attend NanoBrain

On 25th-27th of October, all the Principal Investigators of University of Copenhagen's Nano-Science Center participated in the get-together "NanoBrain" for interdisciplinary discussions, defining future profile, research, and structure of the Nano Science Center. Among the participants were members of the Center for Synthetic Biology

The timely and well-planned meeting included a "Future Discussion" session that featured a presentation by each of the participants. To spark the discussion, they were asked to touch upon the following questions in their presentations:

  • What are the most important core competences of your group for NSC research and future collaborations?
  • What are the scientifically most important issues, discoveries or problems to solve, where your group can utilize group competences to achieve the goals during the next 5 years, regardless of current funding?
  • Which additional competences, technologies and instrumentation does your group need in order to achieve your important new research goals?
  • Consider the immediate Nano-related calls for which some are listed below in the appendix. Many of the deadlines are before the NanoBrain Meeting and could maybe be considered independent of the meeting. It is clear that the outcome of the meeting is and should be far reaching so the precise call targeted is not very important.

After the presentation and discussion sessions, people partcipated in small group-workshops to develop future research themes. Discussions about research collaborations and research driven education was also an important part of the program. The tightly packed program also included social activities such as kayaking, judo, and sumo wrestling!
